Rules

The TTT server rules are chosen, so to stop any chances of rule breaking or unfair advantages in game, whilst maintaining a fun gaming aspect for those who wish to play the server.

BASIC RULES:

1. Innocents must not kill other innocents on purpose.
2. You must not accuse someone of breaking rules in order to avoid being killed by them.
3. Do not troll/abuse other players.
4. You must give 2 warnings of “stop following”, 10 seconds apart, before killing someone who is following you.
5. No bunny hopping.
6. English only in text and on voice.
7. No advertising in any way shape or form.
8. No Voice Modifiers what so ever.
9. Body Blocking/Prop Blocking is not allowed.

DETAILED RULES:

1. When innocent, you can only shoot someone on truly valid grounds. *See below for invalid grounds
2. Only detectives can give orders, disobeying allows the detectives to kill (e.g. freeze / get in Traitor detector) excluding Basic rule four. (Detectives can only give basic orders that will help discover the traitors.)
3. Throwing grenades at random, in a way they may hurt people, is not allowed as innocent.
4. Propkilling / significant hurting players when you are a prop or a human is strictly forbidden.
5. Innocents may disarm c4's, but they must announce it before doing so, and must give the other players15 seconds to move out of the area. If the timer is less than 15 seconds a player can defuse to lessen the potential loss of teammates.
6. Do not proppush.
7. Using any map-specific trap (dynamite, gas, etc.) with the intention to hurt someone is a traitorous act.
8. Be forgiving. People make mistakes. You can always mark them suspect when in doubt.
9. Your name should be pronounceable and typable. When asked to change name, do so or get kicked.
10. Don't overuse the voice chat, don't mic spam, don't sing.
11. No flaming / extreme swearing / discrimination / racism.
12. No gross or suggestive sprays.
13. No glitching, exploiting, hacks or scripts and other related ways of cheating.
14. Ghosting is never allowed.
15. Do not kill rulebreakers. Don't take the law into your own hands, only shoot in self defense.
16. Admins' word is final.
17. You can not claim rooms.(A detective can order everyone to stay out of the room for up to a minute)
18. No traitor baiting. i.e. Shooting at someone but barely missing, holding T weapons without announcing, claiming to be the T.
19. Do not destroy Traitor Testers in the pre round phase, or during the round as Innocent or Detective.
20. You are expected to play and not sit in the server AFK collecting up points.
21. You are not allowed to propsurf or body/prop stack/climb.
22. You are not allowed to call out your team mates. You can kill your T Buddy only if you are given permission by the person. WARNING: This still makes you lose karma!

24. Do not go into places that you can not get out of.
25. Do not use the pointshop to influence the game-play in the round.

Useful Commands

The following commands must be typed into your console, they can also be bound to a key. If you do not know how to open your console or bind a key there is a short guide down below in the Miscellaneous Section

ttt_print_damagelog
Will allow you to view the damage logs for the round. You can only use this command during the End Round and Preparing stages of the round. (This is the most common source of evidence for ban requests.)

status
Will show you a list of all connected players and their Steam ID. (This is how you would obtain evidence of someones Steam ID.)

Quickchat
Bind a key to "Suit Zoom" in your Garry's Mod keyboard options then use that bind. This will open a small side menu where you can press 1-9 to do the "I'm with" and "I see" type of chat commands, given you haven't rebound any of the 1-9 keys for anything else. For a more advanced way to access these commands, look at the Miscellaneous Information section down below.

ttt_version
Prints current version number.

ttt_dropweapon
Will drop your current weapon. By default the key that would open the GMod spawn menu (default Q) instead performs this action. You can manually bind it to other keys using this concommand.

ttt_quickslot [slot number]
Switches to the given weapon slot without having to use the scroll menu. Switches to previous weapon if you already have the slot's weapon out.

ttt_equipswitch
Switches to slot 7 (your equipment weapon) if you have one. If you have that weapon out, it will instead switch to your previous weapon. So you can quickly toggle to your equipment and back. By default the noclip key (default V) will perform this command if sv_cheats is off (else it will noclip you). This command is basically "ttt_quickslot 7".

ttt_toggle_disguise
Toggles your Disguiser equipment if you have bought it as Traitor. Default key is Numpad Enter, this command can be used to rebind it.

ttt_spectate
Moves you onto the spectator team. You will not spawn in game until you use "ttt_spectate 0" to turn this off again. Recommended you use the checkbox in the settings menu under F1 instead.

ttt_print_playercount
Prints the number of players that were alive at the start of the round.

Miscellaneous Information

Opening your console and binding a key.

To open your console go into your Garry's Mod options menu and in the Keyboard tab click "Advanced...". Then tick the "Enable developer console (~)" box. When you are in game simply press the "~" key located next to the "1" key, above the "Tab" key.

To bind a key simply type: bind "key to bind" "command" an example of this would be to type:
bind n ttt_print_damagelog
If the command has a space in you you need to add quotation marks around the command. For example: bind n "ulx menu"

Radio command keys

The console command used to send a quickchat is "ttt_radio". You need to supply which quickchat text to send by adding its name, for example: "ttt_radio help" to send the "Help!" chat. Binding that to a key could look like:

bind "h" "ttt_radio help"

Entered into the console of course. These are the possible quickchat names:

Name Text
yes Yes.
no No.
help Help!
imwith I'm with (player you aim at).
see I see (player you aim at).
traitor (player you aim at) is the traitor!
suspect (player you aim at) acts suspicious.
help Anyone still alive?

Re: TTT Big Thread 11 years, 5 months ago #115386

F.A.Q

Q. Is the Knife a 1 hit weapon?
A. Generally, no it is not. However, if you right click, you can throw your knife. If it lands a headshot, then yes, it will instantly kill the victim.

Q. How can I alert an admin to my problems?
A. Simple, just type “@” first in the chat, followed by what you want to say, and that message will be send to all online admins.

Q. What does proven mean?
A. Proven means you have proven yourself to be innocent. The easiest way to become proven is by assisting in killing a traitor, as it shows your obvious intentions and proves you are an innocent terrorist. There are other numerous ways to help get you proven, such as traitor testers dotted around certain maps, or to help simply relieve suspicion, such as disarming a C4.

Q. What does KOS mean?
A. KOS stands for Kill On Sight, and is used when you know that someone is a traitor, alerting all other players to kill this person on sight.

Q. What does the Magneto stick do?
A. The Magneto stick is used to pick up props and bodies, and is primarily used by Traitors, to hide the bodies of their victims. It can also be used to bring the body to detectives, who can then try to help identify the killer.

Q. What is the maximum karma and does it reset every map?
A. The maximum karma is 2000 and no, it does not reset.

Q. How do you leave spectate only mode?
A. To leave spectate only mode press "F1" and go to the settings tab. Once in the settings tab scroll the the bottom of the page and un-check the spectate only box. You can also type "ttt_spectate 0" in your console to disable spectate only mode.

Q. Why do I see purple and black checkers everywhere?
A. TTT requires Counter-Strike Source, if you do not own it it's near impossible to play TTT.

Q. How do I activate the disguiser?
A. When you buy certain T items, such as a radio, radar, or disguiser, a new tab will appear in the traitor shop. Go to the one titled "Disguiser" and use the check box to toggle it on and off. Otherwise, you can bind a key to "ttt_toggle_disguiser" in the console.

Q. What does RDM mean?
A. RDM stands for Random Death Match. If you are accused of RDM, it basically means you killed someone for an invalid reason, such as he was suspicious. Killing a T as an innocent or detective without proper grounds is still considered RDM, as you have just randomly ruined a round for another player. If you have any questions on what qualifies as RDM, consult the "Invalid Grounds" portion in the rules, or ask a current online admin.

Trouble in Terrorist Town Help

Basics

Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT) revolves around a group of Terrorists (the general players, or "Innocents") who have traitors among them (referred to simply as "the Traitors"). The traitors' goal is to eliminate all Terrorists who are not traitors. The loyal, innocent terrorists must of course prevent themselves from being murdered. However, the innocents do not know who is a traitor, and who is innocent...

The traitors are randomly selected at the start of the round from the group of active players. The number of traitors is a server-defined percentage of the total player count (there is one traitor for every 4 people on the server, rounding down, and there is always at least one traitor). When the round starts, the traitors are notified and the game begins.

In order to beat the superior number of innocent players, traitors must use the fact that their identity is not known (yet). How they do so is up to them.

Once the number of players is large enough (every 8 players), Terrorist HQ will name an innocent player as detective, and supply them with special equipment similar to the traitor's special equipment. Additionally, whenever a detective searches a body, the results will be available to all players. Other innocent players should protect the detectives to maximize their advantages. Traitors will look to take out the detectives, because killing one gives a traitor more credits to buy equipment.

Winning

The traitors win when all innocent players are dead. The innocent win when all traitors are dead, or the time limit is reached with at least one innocent terrorist alive.

Individual players gain points by killing innocents when traitors, or traitors when innocent. Simply surviving the round is also worth points.

Teamkilling costs you a lot of points, and reduces your Karma. When playing as innocent, try to avoid immediately shooting everyone who looks remotely suspicious. You may well be gunning down someone from your own side, who might even save you later.

Karma

Every player has a Karma value. It starts at 1000, and goes down if you teamkill. At the start of a round, everyone who has a Karma below 1000 will have the damage they deal reduced by a certain percentage. As long as it's above 800 or so, the impact will be minor, but at 700 you'll already be doing only 80% of your full damage when you shoot someone. At around 500 Karma, it will be half.

Every time you damage someone who is on your side (e.g., innocent if you are innocent), your Karma is reduced by an amount based on your victim's Karma. So if you kill someone who plays carefully it will hurt your Karma more than if you shoot a teamkiller. You can see other player's Karma as it was at the start of the round on the scoreboard, and on a description when you aim at them, which goes from "Reputable" (green) to "Liability" (red).

During a round, Karma is updated behind the scenes. As soon as you damage someone your Karma goes down. So if you are Innocent, and you see someone kill multiple other innocents, you can safely shoot him: he is either a traitor, or a teamkiller who will have low Karma.

The updated Karma is not displayed on the scoreboard and crosshair info, because that would let you easily figure out if someone is a Traitor. This is the difference between Base Karma (shown on scoreboard etc) and Live Karma (updated "live" during a round). After the end of the round, your Live Karma becomes your Base Karma, and you can see everyone's up-to-date Karma on the scoreboard.

At the end of each round, you regain Karma if you are below the maximum. If you did not damage a teammate that round, you will receive a significant bonus.

In general, your Karma will be okay as long as you don't consistently kill teammates every round.

Rounds

Each round has three phases: preparing, active, and complete.

In the preparation phase, all players spawn and can start gathering weapons, exploring the map and getting into position. Players can not hurt one another or throw grenades in this phase.

When the round starts (and enters the active phase), the traitors are selected and notified. The round timer starts ticking down and the traitors have to start their dirty business.

As soon as either party has won, a victory screen is shown and the round complete phase starts. In this short phase everyone gets a chance to look through the victory screen. Karma is also deactivated here, allowing for a quick little deathmatch between the remaining players. When the time is up, a new round starts with a new preparation phase.

Death

Many servers run the gamemode in detective mode (it is enabled by default). This means when someone dies, you will not see it immediately on the scoreboard or in a death notice. Instead someone must find the body and search it (using the Use key, default "E") to identify it.

Once a dead player's body has been identified, he will no longer show as living Terrorist on the scoreboard, but will be shown as "Confirmed Dead".

Traitors, dead players, and other spectators can also see players who are "Missing In Action", meaning they are dead but their body has not been identified yet. Note that innocent players do not have this information.

Servers that do not run in detective mode will show dead players as being on the Spectator team as soon as they die.

Chat

As a spectator, you cannot communicate with the living players if a round is active. This prevents spectators from revealing the traitors, and other game-spoiling information.

If you are a spectator, only other spectators will hear your voice chat. You can text chat with fellow spectators by using the team chat key.

As a living player, everyone will hear your voice chat. If you are a traitor, you can use the Sprint key (default "Shift") to send your voicechat only to other traitors.

Traitor Equipment

Traitors have the ability to buy special equipment from a selection of useful items and weapons. This costs a credit, and you are only given two at the start of a round (you may get more as a reward for doing well). If a traitor carrying a special weapon dies, it will drop just like his other weapons, and can be picked up by anyone by pressing your Use key while looking at it (default is "E"). However, you can only carry a single special weapon at any time, just like other weapon types. Hence, if you already have C4 in your inventory, you cannot also pickup a silenced pistol that someone dropped. Items do not count towards this limit, so you can for example have Body Armor, a Radar, and C4.

If you are a traitor, press the "Context Menu" key (default is "C") to open the equipment screen. Select your choice and confirm it to receive the equipment.

Keys

The following keys perform a special function in TTT:

Keyboard menu name Default key Function in TTT
Spawn Menu Q Drop weapon (including ammo)
Context Menu C Equipment menu (works only when traitor)
Sprint Shift Voicechat sent only to traitors (works only when traitor)
Suit Zoom (none) Shows quickchat/radio commands (see below)
Walk Alt Mute voice of living players (works only when spectator)
Numpad Enter Toggle Disguiser (works only if you have a Disguiser)
Show Help F1 Shows special TTT help and settings menu

TTT Centralized Bans

To prevent chaos and keep order, bans have been centralized.

RDM – Slay for up to 4 RDMs in a round.

Continuous RDM – (1-4 rdms continuously for 3 rounds) – 1 month ban.

Mass RDM – 5+ Rdms in one round – 3 month ban.

RDM + Leave – 1 week for each RDM up to 4. 5+ RDM and leave results in a 3 month ban.

Trolling – Depends on the amount. At admin’s digression. Typically longer ban lengths are preferred, for the individual clearly shows they have no care for the server or rules as is – max 3 month ban.

Not listening to order the change spray/name - Warn, Kick, 3 Day ban.

Admin Disrespect – Depends on the amount. If they are cursing you out, gag them. If they continue to disrespect, kick. After three kicks, ban them for 2 weeks.

Abuse of the admin chat – Warn them first, then kick. After a kick and they continue, ban them for 3 days.

Chat/Mic Spam - Warn, gag/mute, gag/mute, kick, 3 day ban.

Ghosting – 3 month ban.

Advertisement of other servers (If it is a fp server, it is ok) – Warn, gag/mute, kick, 2 week ban.

Prop killing – Verbally warn, if continued then give a 2 week ban.

Map glitching - Warn, teleport, slay, slay, kick, 1 week ban.

Hacks – Permanent ban.

[TTT] How to post evidence. 10 years, 1 month ago #203724

Because I have had to deny several recent ban requests due to lack of evidence, I'm going to teach you all what evidence is acceptable.

RDM and Leave:
By far the easiest one, just get evidence of the person killing another player without reason, and then them leaving shortly after. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs!
:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

Mass RDM:
Again, not hard. Just get evidence of the person killing at least 5 people in one round usually within a short period of time. The best way is just take a screenshot of the entire log of that round, and any other round the person RDM'ed in. This also applies for continues RDM. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs!

Trolling/Racism/Etc:
Just get pictures of what the player is saying in chat and what they are doing. If they are using voice, I recommend recording a video. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs!

Hacks:
A video is best. Anytime something is happening that should be impossible, then report it immediately. If you think someone is hacking, but you're not sure, take a video just to be safe. If a Super Admin is online, ask him to check for you, they can get a picture of the accused hacker's screen. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs!

Ghosting:
This is probably the hardest to get evidence for, but due to the new logs it's much easier. First, get screenshots of the fact the players are friends. Second, get screenshots of the logs for when a traitor killed one of the ghosters, and then the traitor was killed by the buddy several seconds or minutes later. Another thing is when one ghoster is a traitor, and the other is innocent, the innocent will kill traitors without reason. Get screenshots of this. Once a round is over if this happened, open the new logs using either the command "damagelog" or F8 and open the roles tab and get a screenshot of the roles of the two ghosters. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs!

What is NOT evidence:
Steam chat - Steam ID evidence given to via Steam chat with copy and paste will not be accepted. PLEASE use the console or logs. However, if someone is trolling you in Steam chat and you get screenshots of this, that will go towards a ban.

Copy & Pasting the logs - It is too easy to edit this, get a screenshot! Many free programs (such as Lightshot or Fraps) can take screenshots, or you can press F5 or F12, and post a link to it in your uploaded Steam Screenshots.

Anything without evidence of Steam ID. If you do not have evidence of the Steam ID, the ban request will not be accepted. Ever. Make sure you have SteamID evidence! It must be a screenshot of the person leaving or the logs! If there is a rule breaker online and you're worried he might leave during a map change, make sure to type status in the console beforehand just in case.

Final notes:
If you could not get evidence against someone, post a ban request with the time, date, and map of the incident and an admin can get evidence from the past logs.
