Hello all!
I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread that could be used to share the stories that individuals have created for their Half - Life Universe characters.
I know that quite a few people have sat back and decided to write up their own stories, but it would be nice to see a few more pop up around the place.
This way it helps to get a better understanding of how a certain persons character works and to give us to better create a more in-depth cannon.
I have included in this thread, my first actual character story:

[ Story of Greg Martin ]
Warning: Spoiler!Gregory Martin, The youngest of his two other brothers was brought up in rough times. Much like his other siblings, Gregory was never given a sufficient education and was mostly home schooled. Trouble never used to follow in his wake, but when his other brothers took charge, that's when his life took a different approach. Always wanting to impress his brothers, Gregory often did the most idiotic of things, only to be heckled and pointed at like some dead beat low life clown. He didn't care, he often joined in on the fanfare of 'hilarity'. After all, they were brothers.
When Gregory had just turned Eight, his mother had been diagnosed as terminally ill. Although not knowing much about the situation at hand, his brothers did all they could for him to not ask questions, keeping his mind of it if you will. Of course, this didn't work too well. Young Gregory broke free of his what thought to be 'playful' grip his brothers had on him at the time. And proceeded to look for his Father in their rugged downtown apartment.
His Father, A working-class middle aged man who worked for the local steel mill, was in his study.
Looking like he had been awake for a thousand hours, his head in his hands, he gave out a sigh of grief.
The door slowly creaked open as Little Gregory poked his head around the corner.
"Dad?" Gregory asked in a whisper.
"What do you want now, Gregory?" His Father snapped in an abrupt fashion.
"What's happening with Mother?" Gregory replied in shaken tones.
"She is fine son, there is nothing wrong with your mother" He Groaned.
"But, She..." Gregory's words trailed off.
His Father turned around sharply, grabbing the lamp from the table, tearing it out
the socket. He threw it, barely missing young gregory's head.
His other brothers heard the commotion from down the hall and made haste towards the study.
The door opened to a darkened eerie silence. Nothing else stirred but the sound of frantic sobs coming from the far left corner. The light from the door shone across to Gregory, hands and feet tucked into a fetal position.
The floorboard creaked as one of the brothers moved into the room. All of a sudden from the darkness, the crack of what sounded like a whip rang out and the boy fell to the ground, Gregory looked up to see his brother sitting up on the floor, blood pouring from his eye. The one his father had hit, was his eldest brother 'Frank'. His other brother now nowhere to be seen. The tall shadow like figure moved closer to his brother Frank, hitting the palm of his hand with what looked like a belt.
"You need to be, Re-educated" The shadowy figure said softly as he lifted the belt high above his head. Gregory quickly covered his ears and shut his eyes, returning to the fetal position he was in once before.
Gregory doesn't recall what happened next, but only remembers the muffled and distorted cries and pleas of his brother. Then being carried through the darkness in the wind and rain by a complete stranger followed by six other accomplices.
He wound up within an Orphanage along with other children his age. Going through life very differently to what he had previously had at home. He made friends and had a social life, with other children, and of course not forgetting sharing this new found life with his brother, Frank.
When he finally came of age to leave the orphanage, he had bid farewell to those who he had came close with and those he had made enemies with. And shacked up with his brother in the new founded City 17. Since the Combine invasion had taken it's toll on the earth as a whole, they tried to make the best of their living conditions. Greg, always trying to stay on the good side of the law, kept his nose out of their business and went on with daily life as it came. Frank however was not so easily lead.
Frank enjoyed causing trouble, and pissing off the local Civil Protection units that patrolled the area. He was quite the trouble maker and the Civil protection knew it from him being the new arrival to the present.
One late afternoon, Frank had been gone for some time and at this point, Greg began to get worried. Being passed curfue, he knew it was wrong to go out. But either way he retrieved his jacket and set off. He proceeded to walk down the road towards the Plaza. The sound of radio chatter echoed, bouncing off the walls, and there was a lot of it. He slowly crept towards the corner and poked his head around. Around 6 CP Officers were communicating back and forth, weapons drawn and in quite a frantic state. In amongst them in the middle of the street was Frank, hands bound behind his back with a blank expression upon his face. Wondering what was going on he crept further for a closer look. In one hand an officer held 3 Stunsticks, the hot hue still glowing embers. He saluted, and walked towards the citadel.
"What did he do!" Gregory exclaimed in Hushed mumbles.
"Terminate" Croaked one of the Officers through the Mask, raising the pistol nervously.
A loud explosive bang ran out as the body slumped to the ground, birds disperssing from the wires and guttering above.
Gregory turned pale with a gaunt expression on his face, he slid down the wall slumping into a fetal position once again. He stayed there, motionless for a few moments and turned to look at the body. It was gone...
With a look of distraught and confusion upon his face, he trudged back towards the apartment and lay down staring at the ceiling.
It is unclear why Gregory had enlisted himself for the CCA Unit nor what his motives are. But all that was written on his résumé was simply as put,
'To Protect And Serve'
Greg is currently awaiting evaluation...

* A white noise is heard as a recorder comes to life. *
* A metal door creaks open as footsteps enter the room, the door shutting behind. *
" Okay, so... What have we got here... "
* The sound of a book flicking through it's pages can be heard, it abruptly stops as fingers tap the page *
" Ah, Citizen number... Six, Six, Six... How... Fitting with your past violations. "
" I've told you mate, just call me 'George', it's a lot easier than all these numbers, right? "
* A chuckle is heard behind a gravelly respirated tone *
* The book slams shut, and is thumped onto the table *
* A chair is pulled out with a loud screech, it creaks as the individual sits down *
" Okay... 'George', Tell us... What possessed you to commit these... Acts? "
" Acts?! You say that like it's a bloody crime, i was just saying what i thought. "
* Clenched fists bang on the table *
" It is a fucking crime! Especially when you had to verbally abuse a unit to the point of him striking you down and bringing you in! "
* Fists bang on the table again, only this time the sound of shackles are heard *
" Listen here pal, don't think i don't know about common courtesy here. It's the unit you should have bound up in here. He was braying the other lad up, for bugger all, and he was the same bloody rank! "
* The room goes quiet for a moment, only the sound of shackles and respirators can be heard *
" I asked the lad if he was alright, and he confided in me, Then i get backlash of the other lad so i fired back. In all fairness i think that bastard unit that battered him should have had that baton shoved up his arse by now. "
" That is enough, Citizen! " - The Unit's voice raising -
" I told you call me 'George' You absolute twat! Bloody manners, this lad... Got none... Ey? "
* The 'Citizen' Chuckles *
* A Respirated growl can be heard *
" The way i see it, in a... *Motions quotations with his fingers* 'War' like this... You are family, we treat family with the respect they deserve. And i didn't see that today... I just saw pure unadulterated scum "
* The room falls silent yet again for a moment, then a clearing of the throat can be heard "
" Right... Enough of that for now, let's move onto the next violation shall we? It states here, that you beat up Citizen, Two, Seven, Nine, until he was virtually unconcious. Any particular reason why? "
* The 'Citizen' Chuckles *
" Ah, hah, Aye... That lad, He deserved it, that's why. "
* Heavy fists bang on the table once more *
" Just fucking tell us why! "
* Shackled hands bounce off the table heavily again *
" Because i don't appreciate some cock end stealing my rations! You know? How would you like it?! Obviously your units aren't doing their jobs properly. Blind as a fucking bat, and he's the one with the gun! "
* The room falls silent again *
" So... I took matters into my own hands... Can't blame me, that son of a two quid prostitute deserved much worse. I've noticed that bellend doing other things as well. You might want to get him on watch. "
" I can tell you now, i ain't a one to condone violence. I always like to steer away from it, i mean. I have never done anything, Bad, bad. I've never killed a bloke... You know... "
* The unit sighs *
" I see... You should have reported it to one of us, before taking matters into your own hands. "
* The 'Citizen' bursts out laughing *
" I don't see how i have to report it, when you have four unit's situated in the rations distribution centre. Instead of 're-educating' citizens all the time, i think you need to do that with some of your own, don't you think? "
* A chair crashes to the ground. A small struggle is heard with a short break of silence. *
* The sound of gloves tensing inbetween short bursts of choking and gasping are noted *
" Alright, i think i have put up with enough of your - The unit raising his voice slightly - Shit! For this evening. "
* The tensing of the gloves becomes more frequent as choked coughs come out from the 'Citizen' *
" Now... I... "
* A unit knocks at the door *
" Get in here! "
* The unit who has just walked in stutters nervously *
" S - S - Sir? The Commander would like to speak to you... "
* The sound of a tight grip releasing from flesh is heard as splutters and gasps for air are received *
" Right... Right... Out of my way then, let's see what he needs, you two! With me! And you! Zero, Four, keep an eye on this little shit! "
* The door slams shut as the other units walk quickly out of it. *
* The coughing and spluttering slows down as the 'Citizen' clears his throat *
* The dragging of a chair is heard as it is put right, then the creak of someone sitting on it is heard *
" You look nervous there, mate. "
" Yeah, i uh... I am... "
" Don't be... *The 'citizen' Chuckles* You alright now, Yeah? "
* The unit clears his throat nervously *
" Err, Yeah... Yeah i... I am... I... Just wanted to say thank you... "
* The 'Citizen' coughs loudly, still choking a little *
" For what buddy? "
" For having the guts to do what you did, you aren't a CCA unit, you are a citizen... And you stood up for a unit... "
* The 'Citizens' Gives out a muffled laugh *
" So.. What's your story... Sir? "
* The 'Citizen' bangs his fists on the table, laughing as he does so *
" Sir?! Ah, Ha... Please, pal. Just call me 'George'. I like it better that way. And anyway, it's nice to finally get acquainted "
* The unit stutters slightly *
" S - Sure, George. So... What's your story? "
* The 'Citizen' chuckles *
"My story eh? Alright... Let's give it a go. "
