recently on the minecraft server Ive seen a lot of floating trees were people have cut the bottom and have not bothered cutting the rest of the trees wood

this makes the map look ugly and as if some one has gone on a savage rampage on these trees leaving them violated and in my opinion makes that area look griefed

there is a way to fix this there is a few mods and i believe bukkit plugins that make all the trees blocks either break when the bottom log is cut or after a while what is left of the tree will disintegrate

mods: no links but i know two mods that is timber and treecapitator. i have seen timber used on servers but im not sure about treecapitator

I don't have minecraft (I play it on my brothers user and he won't let me play multiplayer) but this needs fixed

No ugly, mutilated trees standing around and no desolate areas because all trees have been chopped down.

The problem is, if a plugin like that were to be added, and people are destroying a full tree with just one block break, it would seem OP in my opinion. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a diamond axe.

The tree situation is minor, and I think all you have to do is break the log that the leaves are on top of, then they will fall down. It doesn't really take that much effort to take the whole tree down.

I think the Timber mod would just be unfair and flood your inventory with wood.

I like to play legitly and get every piece of wood by my axe.
