Most people on who like Minecraft see this as a bad thing.

I don't get where people get that idea, Microsoft can really expand the game. Sure they might milk it for money a bit, but I think the team they put on it will add nice new features to the game.

It's not a bad thing. Fun fact, I actually have a very strong opinion about Mojang and it isn't a positive. Minecraft was originally hacked together from a game called Infinimer that was made a decent time ago and because it was hacked and pasted together it suffered horrendously performance wise. That's why you can have as beefy as a computer as you would like and running Minecraft on high settings will still knock down the FPS significantly. It is programmed in Java and as a result it runs horrendously. Java was not designed for performance, it was designed to run on as many devices as possible using the same code. A game written in a language such as C++ is much quicker at the cost of rewriting the code to perform on a different system.

Minecraft will benefit from this. Microsoft wouldn't dump $2.5bil USD into something they were going to ignore and milk for a few months. Notch isn't a god send of programmers, in fact he's adequate at best. I am happy that Microsoft bought the game. Only positive things can come from this.

I am personally far more concerned about the DMCA complaint against Bukkit than I am about this and even the Bukkit situation will resolve here in couple of months.

Lol, they'll prob make you pay a monthly fee or some shit. I don't play MC but I honestly think they will improve the game even better. Next thing you know you're going to be praising Microsoft.
