I got a message recently, it looked something like this.
Delicious_Cake: hey mate my friend wants to trade with you but he cant add you (stem error ) add him please! He's ID is --> steamcommuinuity.com/id/Pyroman747/ Anyone that gets something similar, DO NOT PRESS THE LINK. It's not steamcommunity but it's spelled differently and a phising scam! Be Cautious! |

So is it a bit like the *cough* thing, one of your friends gets infected and you get a message from them?

I didn't click it myself, but it is most likely a phising scam were you need to log in with your steam account, always be sure that if you want to log in on steam through a webbrowser that it's on https |

Almost always they work hand in hand with a keylogger which is the ACTUAL danger you get from a phishing scam. That gets downloaded onto your PC then logs all your keystrokes and sends it to the recipient. It basically logs everything you type and where you type it and lets users log into your accounts. So is it a bit like the *cough* thing, one of your friends gets infected and you get a message from them? And most everyone should have an antivirus anyways if they're using the internet so this wouldn't be that much of a threat. |

Anyone that's dumb enough to do this, should be warned and told not too No one deserves to have their account security breached simply because they aren't aware of these types of scams. Also, I think it goes without saying, but anything with spelling and/or grammatical errors is almost always not a legitimate entity or coming from a legitimate source. (I'm talking about both the message and the link) |
