Welcome to the Dayz V2 Thread ! Hey Guys, So I think it`s time we discuss it. For last couple of months I have been working on getting some experience with the DAYZ API and GUI for administration. I have seen many simple ways to administrate a dayz server. I have been working with a friend from one of the best dayz community out there, to get some experience. I am not a full coder just yet, but I have various and extensive knowledge that could be of use to build a dayz server. Here the original thread who was very popular a few months back: Click it ! The idea had been mostly accepted by the comunity. But we had no one to actually work on the project. Has for the server it is yours to choose between a Dayz standalone server or a Dayz mod server. Dayz Standalone: Pros: Easy to administrate, easy to maintain, fast and easy to configure. Cons: No customised content and we don`t have full control over the server. Dayz Mod: Pros: Extremly customisable, Custom everything. A lot of content. Cons: Very hard to maintain and we need someone who can code an extensive API and knows how to handle SQL Querries enough to actually have a moded server. (I can find that person...) So this is still an idea, but please tell me what you think. Thanks -Ram |

Standalone would be a lot better.

Definitely standalone

In my opinion both of them are great, but I need to vote one(no?)
I choose DayZ Standalone, even if it's in Alpha...Is a great game and it would be awsome if the FP would have a server. Maybe we will have new players (Maybe and I/we hope so) So yeah...Standalone is better |

If it`s standalone that gets voted, i`m ready to start working on the project. But I need authorisations of course. So this is still just an idea.

IMO I think another server is pointless, I think that there really aren't enough people in FP to really make another server. There are enough servers which are practically empty most of the time. I wouldn't see this making much of a difference to that.

We could attract new players to our current community. Standalone is very popular....

I wouldn't see this making much of a difference to that. The point is to adapt. Everything has a lifespan and fluxes in popularity. Gmod has sorta started to fall out of its new popular phase, which is why not as many people play it, and why the servers don't have as many guests. DayZ is big now, and FP will die if we don't expand to other games to fall back on. If you remember, FP started out as a mainly CS:S community, but that part eventually died out. As for the server itself, I don't have it, but I think standalone would be best. |
