The point is to adapt. Everything has a lifespan and fluxes in popularity. Gmod has sorta started to fall out of its new popular phase, which is why not as many people play it, and why the servers don't have as many guests. DayZ is big now, and FP will die if we don't expand to other games to fall back on. If you remember, FP started out as a mainly CS:S community, but that part eventually died out.

As for the server itself, I don't have it, but I think standalone would be best.

It hasn't, It was always the DarkRP server which started the server off.

My biggest problem with this is the standalone is in alpha. This means major bugs, exploits, issues, etc. I'm not against FP having a DayZ, I just think it would be best that we wait for beta at the least.
