\"Yesterday, a Google engineer assured News.com that the company's new open-source browser processes webpages much faster than Mozilla Firefox — \"Many times faster. I guarantee you.\" Mozilla engineers released their own test results that show Firefox with a slight performance edge. But the latest test, run independently by News.com, skews the other way.\" after i read this, i downloaded chrome. ill give the results when its finished.

If they really want to have any chance of getting into the web browser market they'll need something better than this, they'll need to try and sign contracts to get it pre-installed on new PC's with major suppliers to have any hope at all.

But Firefox isn't on new computers (not counting ubuntu) and it's known as the best one right? So didn't Firefox had similar start, except Google is well known.

Well at the moment, these are the market shares:
Internet Explorer (73.81%) Mozilla Firefox (18.43%) Safari (6.14%) Opera (0.71%) Netscape (0.62%) Other (0.29%) Internet explorer is by far in the lead but decreases slowly each year, something MS plan to solve with IE8. The market share for google chrome i asume comes under Other, it will need some kind of major boost to get people using it over the other browsers. |

i doubt google chrome will be preinstalled on any computers for a long time. chrome is still in beta too.
